I tend to see things through the prism of writing. So it’s no surprise that when I started drinking independent beer, meeting brewers and learning more about the brewing process, I dove into writing about it.
Working as an editor at The Everett Herald, I pitched an occasional story about breweries and brewers and their creations to my colleague in the Arts section. She gladly took the content and I began forming relationships in the beer industry.
Even though I left The Herald five years ago, my writing became more frequent and even continued as a weekly column, Hops & Sips. The reason I’ve continued to write about beer despite having a day job, a family and other responsibilities is because of the community. I’ve made friends and met some of the hardest working and interesting people I know through the beer scene. It’s inspiring to see people sacrifice and toil to follow their dreams.
I hope to continue that writing here. I hope you enjoy it. — Aaron
